Band 7 sample answer
I would like to describe Mr Karimov, my English teacher in high school. He taught me for three years, and he is one of the main reasons I am studying languages today.
When I started his class, my English was very weak and I was afraid to speak. Instead of criticising my mistakes, he encouraged me to try again and gave me simple tasks, such as describing my day or reading short stories aloud. Gradually, I became more confident, and by the end of the first year I was one of the top students.
He was important to me because he believed in me when I did not believe in myself. He also showed me that learning can be enjoyable if the teacher is patient and creative. Even now, whenever I face a challenge, I remember his advice: “Mistakes are proof that you are trying.”
I still remember one particular lesson when he asked everyone to speak about their favourite place for one minute. I was terrified, but he smiled and gave me an extra ten seconds to think, and when I finished, the class applauded. That moment changed how I felt about speaking in public.
About 196 words, roughly 2 minutes of natural speech.
